Fancy, informal, crafty, brunchy, and more, these are tried and true places to host a baby shower in Queens.

ASTORIA

Astoria: The Bonnie

The Bonnie via Yelp

When you think "Astoria food" you think "The Bonnie." This establishment hosts a ton of baby showers, so if you need to throw one for a friend, sis, or cousin, you've found the right place. The restaurant's private events team is very hands-on: booking a party at The Bonnie provides you with your own private event planner; the staff loves to find little ways to make any baby shower really personal, from creating exquisite chalkboard art to welcome the group, to offering little activities for kids, to working with dietary restrictions and offering lots of vegan and vegetarian options. (New vegan dishes include a Vietnamese-inspired banh mi "sausage" with chickpea aioli as well as a pastrami "reuben" made with smoked seitan and vegan provolone on marble rye.) They have seasonable and yummy ice cream sandwiches as well as specialized kid's menus, so if your guests want to bring their little ones, they can. The decor inside is wooden and brick, very hip, modern, and welcoming, and there's even an outside patio area you can reserve for baby showers. The venue can accommodate 10 to 200 guests for a celebration.

BAYSIDE

Donovan's

Chen J. via Yelp

This is an incredibly popular place for baby showers and for good reason—it's awesome. For starters, it's in Bayside, so for private parties it's easily accessible for both NYC guests and those coming in from Long Island to shower mama. (They have on-site valet parking.) Guests really like the variety of party rooms, so they really can accommodate parties of all sizes, and the venue's "upscale pub" vibe sets it apart from your run-of-the-mill Irish bar. The food is fresh, the menu is plentiful, and "word on the street" is that Donovan's has the best burgers in all of Queens. Partygoers also like that each party section at Donovan's is spacious and doesn't feel cramped, and that the venue itself if kid-friendly if you've got little ones in tow.  The ambiance is welcoming and pleasant and the mom-to-be will love the warm and cozy decor inside.

FOREST HILLS

DEE'S

If you love brick oven pizza, this is your go-to place. If you love babies, parties, and showering your expecting friend...well...this is also your go-to place! The venue itself is open and airy, not crammed and dark. They have a large space with several rooms and are able to accommodate parties of 30 all the way up to 100 guests. Dee's has a  variety of packages that meet all of your food preferences, so there's something for everyone. The staff is very friendly and helpful and pride themselves on making sure your event runs efficiently. Of note: There's also an outdoor patio you can utilize for parties in nice weather. The venue is elegant, the food (mostly Italian) is zesty and great, and you can even purchase Dee's gift cards online for the expectant parents so they can return to Dee's for a date night while you're babysitting their kid. Tuscan Hills

Mayan C. via Yelp

Longtime Forest Hills residents flock to Tuscan Hills, a beloved neighborhood gem known for its high-quality Italian fare. And, since it's easily accessible via subway, it's "hub" location makes it a fantastic place for friends from all over New York City to come celebrate mom and baby. If you book a private party in one of two on-site, rustic-style rooms, which holds about 25 people (smaller room) or 50 (larger private space.) You are welcome—and encouraged—to decorate the space however you'd like. The staff and chefs are flexible with the menu in regard to food allergies and exceptions, and if you're the party host, you can bring in an outside cake which the staff will cut and serve to guests. A popular word-of-mouth party locale, it's an inviting, warm place for a party--guests love the exposed brick walls inside and the mouth-watering food. Book it today for your expectant friend and shower her and her cute belly with love....and pasta!

My Kitchen

A restaurant, banquet hall, and event space, My Kitchen is the ultimate place for a baby shower. If you book a party here, you've got three options: use of the Indoor Banquet Hall, which seats 50+ guests, with natural light shining through the room via the outdoor patio; the Outdoor Patio, which is great for appetizers or a little tea party; and the indoor restaurant space for up to 40 guests, where most baby showers are held. When booking any event here, it's always best to call ahead. Guests like that the spaces don't feel cluttered, that the service is top-notch, the food is personalized and tasty, and you can host your event outdoors (weather permitting, of course.) The inside of the restaurant is neutral and bright, making it easy to decorate and you can bring in a dessert table as well as specialty furniture, such as a Baby Shower Throne.

Painting With a Twist

Mezaun S. via Yelp

Canvas painting parties are all the rage and so much fun, and Painting With a Twist is a popular spot for baby showers in Queens.  If the expectant mom loves painting, consider booking her baby shower here. Or, treat her and your gang to a painting session (she can hang the canvas in baby's nursery) and then dinner elsewhere. Of note: The minimum guest requirement for any Friday, Saturday or Sunday is 20 painters; private parties are closed to the public. The minimum guest count for any events planned for Monday though Thursday is 12. You can feel free to cater or bring any food or snacks and decorations you'd like, PWaT only asks that you do not bring outside beer or wine as they are bot BYOB—they do have a bar with reasonably-priced beverages for sale. (All non-alcoholic drinks are $2.00.) If you sign up and book in advance, you can select the images you want your guests to paint from a gallery of choices.

FRESH MEADOWS

Sweet Cats Cafe

Ces L. via yelp

This may seem like a really random place to list, but hear us out: Sweet Cats Cafe is a cute, albeit tiny, dessert boutique adorned in pink accessories, including a pink flower wall and a pink 'crane game' machine! Unfortunately, you can't rent the store out for private parties because it's very small/cozy, but if you want to do a tiny celebration with the mom-to-be and a friend or two, then pull up a (pink) chair and indulge your sweet teeth with some milk tea, Matcha, Crepe Cakes, Chocolate Mousse, and more. There's no Web site, but you check out the cafe's full menu here. (They also make and deliver beautiful baby shower cakes; delivery must be local.)

LONG ISLAND CITY

Long Island City: Jackson's

Albie C. via Yelp

If you're ever walking around Long Island City and why the heck there's a large "mustache" mural painted on a wall (go ahead—take some pics in front of it and post to instagram) now you know it's the logo for one of the hottest party places in Queens. A neighborhood eatery and bar, Jackson's hosts private events all the time. They also host semi-private events as well, and a lot of these are baby showers! It's the super welcoming, small business mentality that keeps guests coming back to Jackson's. The friendly owner, Andrew Karistinos (who certainly does sport a thick mustache!) is often on-site and cares greatly about every single one of his customers and their events. The venue's customer service is top-notch and the current menu includes everything from ribs and mac n' cheese to organic chicken pot pie, tons of salads, and happy hour cocktail faves. Jackson's is known for its seasonally-inspired regional American food. Of note: If there is a group of 25 or less, the venue will reserve an area for the group and still operate business as usual for the rest of the restaurant. If the group is 25 or more or requests a private event then Jackson's will close down to the public. Additionally party amenities include projection screen, Wi-Fi, audio system, A/C Power, and a customized food and beverage menu.

Long Island City: Cafe Henri

Sergey K via Yelp

Cafe Henri is a charming French Bistro and a true hot spot for LIC residents. It's small inside, so it's not the go-to place for a large, rockin' baby shower in a private room; we'd say it's best for 10 attendees, max. It's on this list because their food just hits-the-spot and helps mommy satisfy her pregnancy cravings. (The menu includes staples such as croissants and eggs Benedict to burgers, wild salmon, and mouth-watering desserts including Crème Brulée.) Cafe Henri does not accept traditional reservations. It's walk-in, and can get crowded, but if it's not a holiday weekend, and you've got a group of 10 or fewer, give the place a call at least a week in advance and they'll try to accommodate your crew, especially on a weekday. Also, if you get there just when they open, there's a good chance the expectant mommy can enjoy a yummy meal in a quaint and intimate setting with a few of her best pals. Does life really get any better than that?

REGO PARK

Rego Park: BLVD  Bistro & Bar

BLVD Bistro

BLVD Bistro & Bar is pretty cool-looking from the outside. It's posh and classy and at first glance you might think...people have baby showers here? Well, the same way all babies are unique, all parents are unique, and some expectant mothers want a different vibe for their baby shower. They may just not be the formal lunch in a local restaurant's private back room type. For example, BLVD recently booked a baby shower for both parents, in which both men and women were invited and wanted cocktails, comforting bar food, and music. BLVD Bistro & Bar is the premier whiskey and wine bar in Queens; they specialize in events, meetings, and parties for birthdays, wedding shower, and baby showers, too. The staff customizes every party with food and drinks and for all ages. The inside has a real rustic and modern decor with a Manhattan vibe, and the venue will allow you to provide your own music playlist if you'd like. There's room for almost 40 people for a private party, so it's a good spot for a gathering that doesn't feel overwhelming. It's easily accessible by subway, and for those who come by car, there's parking at a nearby lot or at the Wyndham hotel next door.
