We all know who Santa Claus is, but how did his story really begin? The new Netflix animated film Klaus gives us a look into the origin story of the jolly old elf.

Netflix just debuted the first trailer for Klaus, which follows the story of an unlikely friendship between a postman and a toymaker named Klaus. In a snow-filled, remote village otherwise known as “the unhappiest place on earth,” the two pair up to spread the joy of kindness to the residents, starting with gifting the kids with toys.

The film, which is directed by Despicable Me co-creator Sergio Pablos, is Netflix’s first original animated feature film. Klaus will also join a handful of other Netflix releases to debut in theaters prior to launching on the streaming platform. Klaus will hit theaters first on Nov. 8 before rolling out on Netflix worldwide on Nov. 15.
